About the Director, Intercollegiate Athletics
Carl McAloose’s career spans 30 years, including positions as a Sports Information Director, Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, an associate commissioner and a commissioner for an athletic conference. He has been the Director of Athletics at Clayton State University, Morrow, Georgia since 2012. He is the President/CEO of Athletics Staffing and Consultants, Fort Myers, Fla.
Prior to that, he was the Director of Athletics for Florida Gulf Coast University from 2000 through 2008. In his role at FGCU, he launched the university’s athletics programs with 14 sports and the hiring of coaching and support staff. He successfully moved FGCU from the A-Sun Conference to NCAA I status in the fall 2007, the fastest to ever accomplish this. He successfully assisted in the fundraising, design and construction efforts for the 4,500-seat Alico Arena, baseball/softball stadium, a baseball/softball/soccer clubhouse, a soccer stadium and 12 lighted tennis courts. His department’s GPA was above 3.1, and the department averaged over 7,500 community service hours annually. In 2010, FGCU initiated the “Carl McAloose Spirit Award” for the top female and male athlete, which is given annually.
