Banned Book Week
(Hendry Glades)

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. It highlights the value of free and open access to information. Banned Books Week brings people together in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular.

By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship.

The Hendry Glades celebration of Banned Books week will include a Banned Books Trivia Challenge where students answer the trivia questions placed in A-119 and return answer cards to the library A-109, a drawing will be held and 3 students with the correct answers will win a Banned Books Week tote bag filled with frequently challenged or banned books. To wrap up Banned Books week we will be showing the film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, a book on the 100 most frequently Banned or Challenged List published by the American Library Association.
