Florida SouthWestern State College Professor Accepted Into Leadership Charlotte

Barbara Ward, MSN-Ed, RN, CCRN, Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) nursing Program Director and professor, has been selected to join the 2015 Leadership Charlotte Class for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce. 

 

“FSW encourages all faculty and staff to participate in community groups and activities that help promote their personal and professional well-being,” said Dr. Marie A. Collins, Dean, School of Health Professions at FSW.  “Professor Ward is an excellent example of taking the initiative to participate in such an elite group and enhancing her already excellent leadership skills.”

 

Ward has been involved with the Punta Gorda medical community for the past 32 years.  She received her High School Diploma and her LPN at the same time in 1973, and completed the LPN-RN Bridge program and receiving her Associate Degree in Nursing from Edison State College.  Ward pursued her Master’s in Nursing Education and came to the Thomas Edison (Lee) Campus of FSW as the Associate Degree Nursing Clinical Coordinator in the fall of 2012, taking the Interim Program Director position three months later. In August, Barbara had the opportunity to fulfill the Program Director role for the AS Nursing program in Charlotte, and is also teaching in the FSW online BSN program.

 

Florida SouthWestern State College is Southwest Florida’s largest and one of the most affordable institutions of higher education. Annually serving more than 22,000 students globally, FSW offers a variety of nationally-ranked, career-focused academic programs with two- and four-year degrees, and professional certifications. Students are also active in clubs and programs catered to their interests. FSW will debut its intercollegiate athletics program in the fall 2015.
