Moorings Park Foundation Supports FSW with $30,000 Gift

Nov 9, 2015

Earlier this year the Moorings Park Foundation presented the Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) Foundation with a $30,000 gift for student scholarships.

Moorings Park, a continual care retirement community (CCRC) in Naples, Fla., provided $25,000 for nursing and EMT students in the FSW School of Health Professions and $5,000 for future teachers in the FSW School of Education through the “Give Them Wings Scholarship Program.”

“We believe in education and we felt giving financial assistance for students to finish their associate’s or bachelor’s was a great way to make a contribution,” said Andy Guenette, a resident of Moorings Park. “Here at Moorings Park we have a number of health professionals, nurses and aids, so giving funds to benefit healthcare students is a great investment.”

Members of the Moorings Park Foundation toured the School of Health Professions’ facilities on the Collier and Thomas Edison (Lee) Campuses. They were particularly struck with how students chose FSW because of the dedicated and committed faculty, as well as how they never felt like just another number, which frequently happens at large universities

The $30,000 gift to FSW will assist students financially in completing one of two bachelor’s degrees, eleven associate’s degrees or six certificate programs, and ultimately contributing to the healthcare industry in Southwest Florida.
