A Message from FSW President Dr. Jeff Allbritten
To the FSW Community,
The COVID 19 pandemic has forced us all to make difficult decisions regarding the health and safety of our families, our workplace, and the health and wellness of those we love. I fully appreciate everyone’s thoughtful consideration of their own individual situation and can assure you I feel the weight of the decisions that I am making as we embark on the Fall 2021 semester at FSW.
The regional health data indicate we could be in for another challenging fall. FSW is recommending that students, faculty and staff wear face coverings while inside our buildings.* New face coverings will be readily available at all FSW campuses/centers for student and staff use if they choose to wear them. We have plexiglass shields installed at faculty podiums as well as at our student service areas for added protection. We continue to rigorously clean our campuses to keep our students, faculty and staff as safe as possible.
Unlike last fall, we have a new tool in the fight against the virus. The 3 different vaccines that received the Emergency Use Authorization from the federal government are widely available now. I urge you to consider being vaccinated as it is the surest way to protect yourself and to help us ensure the academic continuity for our college.
It’s been a long and difficult 15 months and the stress and strain are wearing on us all. I ask that we uphold our civility towards each other even higher than we do our personal views. We need to show each other respect and grace and we will get through this challenge and again provide vital learning opportunities for students across southwest Florida.
Sincerely, Dr. Jeff S. Allbritten President
*Certain courses may include practicum or clinical experiences at partner sites (e.g. hospital system) that require face coverings or other mitigation measures.

Welcome Buccaneers to the Spring Semester 2021!
We are excited to start off the new semester with you as part of the FSW family. At FSW, we are committed to your safety and health while providing an excellent academic experience. Although you may not see as many student activities and in-person experiences happening, we are still committed to providing a virtual college experience that will make you feel a part of our FSW community.
At FSW, we are requiring face coverings, which cover your mouth and nose, inside all buildings, including classrooms, and following all CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19. We ask that you wash and/or sanitize your hands numerous times throughout the day and, especially after touching surfaces. FSW has also implemented extra cleaning and sanitizing throughout campus to help keep you safe. We also ask that if you feel sick, please stay home and communicate either by phone or by email with your professors to let them know that you are not feeling well and cannot come to campus; this helps protect the entire FSW community.
If you test positive for COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have had close first-hand contact (a total of 15 minutes at less than 6 feet) with someone who is COVID-19 positive, please complete the COVID-19 reporting form found at https://cm.maxient.com/reportingform.php?FLSouthWestern&layout_id=22.
Once completed, a staff member from the COVID-19 Case Management Team will contact you to discuss the next steps. It is important that you stay off-campus at this time until further direction from the college.
We look forward to welcoming you back to campus, either in-person or virtually, beginning January 6! Whether you are a returning student or a brand new Buccaneer, we hope that your educational journey with FSW will be rewarding, meaningful, and will become an important step in your life’s path.
Go Bucs!
