Collier Campus Names Campus Dean

 Dr. Julie Edmister has joined Edison State College Collier Campus as Campus Dean.

 

“Dr. Edmister brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to our campus,” said Dr. Robert R. Jones, Interim Campus President. “She will play an important role with our faculty and staff, which ultimately benefits our students.”

 

Her responsibilities include overseeing the academic operation of the campus including compliance with academic and administrative policies.  Dean Edmister will work closely with faculty and staff in creating and leading programs to help students develop academic and professional proficiencies.

 

A native of Portland, Oregon, Dr. Edmister earned her bachelor’s degree from Portland State University before graduating from Florida State University first with her master’s and then Ph.D. in instructional systems. Prior to joining Edison State College Collier Campus, she was the Dean, Bower-Suhrheinrich College of Education and Human Services and a professor of educational leadership at the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, Ind.

 

In addition to her numerous faculty appointments during her career, Dr. Edmister has also served on the Board of Directors, City of Evansville Diversity Lecture Series, the Indiana Dean’s Consortium, the Board of Directors for both the USI Center for Applied Research and the USI Center for Creativity. Last year she was named a 2010 Phenomenal Women of USI and Community Award. Her research on leadership best practices has been published in a variety of publications.

 

The Edison State College Collier Campus, 7007 Lely Cultural Parkway, is located off Collier Boulevard, three miles north of Tamiami Trail East.
