Jan 4, 2012

PUNTA GORDA – Enrollment for the Class of 2016 at Edison Collegiate High School opens Jan. 18 with prospective students and parents invited to attend one of three information sessions.

The information sessions are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, Thursday, Jan. 26 and Wednesday, Feb. 8. Each session will follow an open house with ECHS faculty, staff and current students which begins at 5:30 p.m.

ECHS is a public charter school open to all students eligible for the ninth grade with no GPA or test score requirements. Applications (no essay required) will be available at ECHS.edison.edu on Jan. 18 with an option for online submission. The deadline to apply is 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 29 with the 100-member Class of 2016 selected by a random lottery and announced March 4.

The information sessions will educate prospective students and parents on the opportunities available at ECHS and the application process. An innovative curriculum enables students to simultaneously graduate with their high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree from Edison State College. The liberal arts public charter school offers extensive elective programs while maintaining a strong foundation of honors level core courses: ECHS students scored among the top 3 percent in Mathematics and Reading.

The open house that proceeds each information session allows prospective students and parents access to the entire ECHS facility and meet with faculty and staff. Information tables for each club and activity offered at ECHS also will be present with a current student available to answer questions.
