House Approves $75,000 for Edison College Nursing Program: Funds Targeted for Charlotte Campus

Nov 26, 2007

Edison College's Charlotte Campus President, Dr. Patricia Land, has received word from Congressman Tim Mahoney, FL-16, that the appropriations bill approved by the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this month included $75,000 to continue the campus' basic nursing program.

Land expressed appreciation for Mahoney's leadership in securing funds to address the growing need for qualified nurses. "These funds will enable the College to accommodate more nursing students and, in the long run, help ensure high quality health care across Charlotte County."

Land added that the Congressman recently was on campus as a guest speaker in a speech class, discussing small business opportunities. "He was thrilled with the students' questions," she said, "and the students were appreciative of his time and insights."

The Basic Nursing Program is comprised of classroom instruction, laboratory simulation, and clinical practice in the care of infants, children and adults. Application deadlines are May 15 and August 31 of each year. Information may be obtained by calling 1-800-749-2322.
