Edison Collegiate High School Earns High-Performing Status

November 14, 2012 -- PUNTA GORDA, FLA. – This past summer, Edison Collegiate High School, located on the Charlotte Campus of Edison State College, earned an “A” from the Florida Department of Education. In a letter from the Florida DOE, the high school has now earned its status as a high-performing charter school, pursuant to s. 1002.331, F.S.

“This is yet another testament to the dedication of the principal, the staff and the students,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, President, Edison State College. “This school gives our students incredible opportunities to earn not only their high school diploma, but also simultaneously graduate with an associate’s degree from Edison State College at no additional cost.”

Now in its fourth year, the school will celebrate the graduation of its first senior class.

“We are extremely proud of our students and all they have accomplished,” said Diane Juneau, principal of Edison Collegiate High School. “Our students can continue their college careers with credits they have earned while attending high school, along with the experience of knowing the demands and expectations of succeeding on the college level.”

Admission to ECHS is based on a random lottery with all ninth-grade eligible students welcome to apply. Open enrollment begins in January with the application and deadline details available online. For more information please visit ECHS.edison.edu or call 941-637-5673.
