Mar 12, 2013

Local dental hygienists will soon be able to administer local anesthesia to patients and receive CEU’s.  This specialized course is only available through Edison State College in the Southwest Florida area.  To register, or to learn more about this course, visit http://www.edison.edu/ce/.

“Dental Hygienists were only recently permitted to receive this certification by the State of Florida,” said Adrian Kerr, Associate Dean and Director of Continuing Education for Edison State College.  “This is the first time that this course has been offered in SW Florida and we are very pleased to be the only local institution offering it to those who wish to expand their expertise in the area of dental hygiene.”

This course is designed through 30-hours of online study and 30-hours of clinical preparation for licensed dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia. The clinical component of the course will encompass an 18-hour onsite clinical component at the College provided by the College’s Dentists and 12-hours of observing a Florida licensed dentist administer local anesthetic in a private practice setting.
