Jan 28, 2008

An old-fashioned film festival for the whole family will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, at Edison Park Elementary School in Fort Myers. The festival will feature two classic films: The Immigrant, starring Charlie Chaplin; and The Playhouse, starring Buster Keaton.

Edison College's Professor of Humanities Dr. Wendy Chase will present "Inventing the Movies: Pioneers of Early Cinema," an overview of early film production. There will be free popcorn and snow cones. Edison Park Elementary students will perform Edison-era music and antique cars will be on display. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edison and their guest, Charlie Chaplin, will make special appearances.

Tickets for the film festival are $5 for adults and $1 for children. The event is being sponsored by the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, Edison College and Edison Park Elementary School. For more information, please call the Estates at 239 334-7419.
