SEPTEMBER 9, 2013 – FORT MYERS, FLA – Edison State College hospitality and business adjunct professor Maria Maddalena recently served on the judge’s panel for the Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau’s E Awards.

The E Awards are judged on guest letters and recommendations of nominated hospitality employees who have demonstrated: Service satisfaction – going the extra mile; Leadership work ethic – willingness to help, attitude, problem-solving;Job knowledge – how their performance skills and creativity affected their service; Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel awareness – familiarity with and promotion of Lee County; and Compassion – helping during a crisis or emergency without expecting or needing thanks just because they care. This year’s breakfast awards ceremony recognizes a record number of 395 nominees and takes place Sept. 10 at the Harborside Event Center, Downtown Fort Myers, 7-10:30 a.m.

“The E Awards give attention to the hospitality industry and give credit to employees for the good work that they do,” said Maddalena. “Having worked for Marriot in the past, I know the hospitality industry can often be a challenging career, and I’m happy I can help recognize those employees who have gone above and beyond to help make a guests visit special.”

“Maria has always been extremely supportive of the program and has worked with the bureau in various other facets as well,” said Judi Durant, Director of Visitors Services, Lee County Visitor and Convention Bureau. “We know her experience in the hospitality industry and as a hospitality educator will lend a great strength on the judges panel.”
