ECHS Charlotte Art Club Students Take Top Honors

Dec 5, 2013

The Edison Collegiate High School Charlotte Art Club received top honors from the Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda for their entry in the Punta Gorda Christmas Card Lane.  This is the second consecutive year that the students won first place in the amateur, non-religious category.  Additionally, this year the Art Club entry also won first place in the ‘most unique’ category.

“All of our students at ECHS are very talented,” said Amy Porter, Art Teacher at ECHS Charlotte.  “I am so proud of the Art Club for creating such a unique and festive piece for the competition this year, and I love that they are being recognized for their work.”

The Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda has organized this annual tradition since 1999, and all entries will be on display from November 30, 2013 through January 4, 2014 in Gilchrist Park.  All entries were entered as professional or amateur, and were awarded based on the following categories: Best of Show, Most Artistic, Most Unique, Most Humorous, and Honorable Mention.

ECHS Charlotte is designed to provide students of all ability levels an opportunity to graduate with both a high school degree and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Edison State College.  The transformational teaching methods used provide an engaging learning environment and opportunities for all students to receive additional educational resources through the high school and Edison State College.   Students enjoy small class sizes and individualized attention at ECHS since the school has a maximum of 400 students, 100 per grade from nine through 12.  For more information about Edison Collegiate High School Charlotte County visit http://echs.edison.edu/.
