Jan 17, 2014

JANUARY 17, 2014 – LABELLE, FLA. – Edison State College Hendry Glades Center alumna Crystal Gomez was recently selected as the Florida College System Chancellor’s Student of the Month. Students selected for this honor are chosen for their exceptional leadership skills, academic success or community service.

“Crystal worked hard to make the Hendry Glades Center a community for our students,” said Arenthia Herren, faculty librarian, Edison State College Hendry Glades Center. “If there was an event, Crystal was there helping out. She was Student Government Association (SGA) president and a peer architect for the Cornerstone class. She was not only active in student life activities but was a great student in the classroom and a great member of the community working with the local theater group's summer children's camp.”

“I have always tried to be a part of community outreach,” Gomez said. “When I started at Edison State College, I found that I also wanted to help those closer to home. I was happy to be a part of the Edison State Student Government Association and being able to make if even a minute difference in the life of even one student. I'm happy for the opportunities that I had at Edison State College and am grateful for all that I learned from being a part of such a great community.”
