Florida SouthWestern State College Veterans and Students to Honor September 11 Patriot Day

Veterans and students at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) will honor the victims and heroes of 9/11 at 2pm on September 11, 2014. The public is invited to attend this historic event, which will feature a flag ceremony and speaker presentation. The flag raising ceremony will be on the Thomas Edison (Lee) campus. All college locations will have events to commemorate this day:

  • Hendry/Glades, 1092 E Cowboy Way, LaBelle at 1:00pm
  • Charlotte Campus, 26300 Airport Rd., Punta Gorda from 2:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Collier Campus, 7075 Grand Lely Dr., Naples from 2:00pm – 3:00pm
  • Thomas Edison (Lee) Campus, 8099 College Pkwy., Fort Myers at 2:00pm

 

While at the 9/11 memorial celebration, students will take part in a flag raising ceremony presented by the Armed Service Continuing Education (ACE) organization. The ceremony will begin at 2pm with support and words from Public Safety, ACE and community members. Following the ceremony, students will have a chance to hear from local community speakers about the 9/11 memorial and history.

Students are also active in clubs and programs catered to their interests. FSW will debut its intercollegiate athletics program in the fall 2015.
