Allbritten Honored with Bob Graham Award

Feb 21, 2008

Dr. Jeff Allbritten, president of Edison College's Collier campus, received the prestigious Bob Graham Award from the Florida Junior Community College Student Government Association [FJCCSGA] at their annual conference earlier this month. The award is presented each year for distinguished service in four categories: student, employee, community supporter, and student advisor.

In nominating Allbritten, Edison's Collier Campus Student Government Association [SGA] lauded his commitment to students and his vision for expanding programs and services at the campus. "Dr. Allbritten's giving nature, positive attitude and 'students first' mentality sets him apart from all the rest," said campus SGA President Rudy Trevino. "His contributions to the students and the community have truly helped our campus become a great place to learn and attend."

Allbritten joined Edison College as president of the Collier campus in February 2003, having served as director of Broward Community College's Pines Center in Pembroke Pines and as a university mathematics professor. Most recently, he served in a volunteer capacity as president of one of the state's largest professional organizations, the Florida Association of Community Colleges [FACC], representing more than one million students enrolled in community colleges across the state and more than 16,000 employees and retired employees.

"There cannot be a higher honor than being recognized by those you serve," said Allbritten. "It is a privilege to interact with students each and every day, and I am humbled by their touching tribute."
