Dr. Mireille B. Lauture Publishes First Children’s Book

“Bobo, Chen Odasye a/Bobo, the Sneaky Dog” by Dr. Mireille B. Lauture, of Edison State College is now available in stores. The bilingual English/ Haitian- Creole book is the first of a series of ten children’s books that Lauture has contracted through AuthorHouse to publish through 2011. Kathleen L. Minckler, an Edison State College alumna, is the illustrator for the series and Dr. Daniele Kellams, an ESC French Professor, will be contributing as a translator in all upcoming editions in the series.

The book targets children from elementary through middle school. The story is about a dog that learns from his mistake.  “Bobo, The Sneaky Dog” ends with a salient moral, as will the future stories Lauture is writing.

“My mom used tell me stories when I was growing up in Haiti,” explained Lauture. “Now, I want to keep those folktales alive by sharing them with tomorrow’s generation of all backgrounds.”

Mireille B. Lauture, PhD, works in the Academic Success Program at Edison State College’s Lee campus. To learn more about her first children’s publication, “Bobo, Chen Odasye a/Bobo, the Sneaky Dog”, please check out: http://www.authorhouse.com/Bookstore/BookDetail.aspx?BookId=SKU-000377483
