Originally from New Jersey, Katie Reilly studied at The College of New Jersey where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English. In her studies, Ms. Reilly concentrated in American literature and developed a passion for its rich heritage and culture. During her junior year, Ms. Reilly studied abroad in the countryside of England, where she lived in an old castle for a summer semester. During her time abroad, Ms. Reilly visited several historic literary sites, including Shakespeare’s birthplace, the homes of Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters, and Sherwood Forest (home to Robin Hood). Ms. Reilly still loves to travel and explore other cultures; among her favorite cities to visit are New York, Dublin, Madrid, and Rome.
After graduating college, Ms. Reilly decided to pursue a career in education so that her appetite for knowledge and learning would never come to an end. Ms. Reilly has been teaching high school English in Lee County since 2008. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for literature with her students and takes pride in each of her student’s successes. Ms. Reilly is honored to be among the faculty at Florida SouthWestern Collegiate High School and is looking forward to another rewarding year in the classroom.
