Crystal Steed joined our staff in 2016 as a substitute teacher after returning to the Punta Gorda area in 2014. She recently accepted a fulltime clerical position with us and helps us in many areas including lunches, transcripts, and data entry. She has a long history of teaching and mentoring students of all ages. As a child, she grew up in her Mom’s dance studio in North Carolina and continued to study dance and drama in various performing arts schools throughout North Carolina and New York.
Crystal attended East Carolina University and graduated with a BFA in dance. She started a performing arts academy and soon returned to graduate school to study education. She also developed a program for Rocky Mount City Schools in North Carolina that instructed elementary classroom students using basic core concepts through movement and choreography. Crystal has held teaching certificates in the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and currently Florida.
After her son was born, Crystal moved to Tennessee to start a small business with her family, but continued to substitute teach, coach a high school dance team and instruct and choreograph for the theater and music departments of Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN.
In her free time, she enjoys boating, biking and horseback riding.
Her best advise to students, “There is no such thing as I can’t”; instead think, “I have not achieved it YET, but given time and a positive mind set, I will rise above even my most difficult challenge!”
