PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The Edison State College Charlotte Campus theater department will perform the Broadway hit “You Can’t Take It With You” beginning Nov. 16.

The zany comedy about an eccentric New York City family first opened on Broadway in 1936 and has been performed 837. The film manifestation won the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director in 1938.

“It’s a show everyone can relate to,” Charlotte Campus theatre director Sherie Ragan said. “It’s placed in the ’30s but it deals with emotions and situations we all experience. It truly is a timeless piece and people will really see that when they come to the play.”

The Edison production of “You Can’t Take It With You” debuts at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. A second show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 with the finale at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.
