Broadway Classic 9 to 5: The Musical To Debut At Edison State College\'s Charlotte Campus

Mar 22, 2013

PUNTA GORDA-      Edison State College Theatre, Charlotte Campus will be presenting the Broadway classic, “9 to 5: The Musical”, which is based on the 20th Century Fox Picture and Patricia Resnick book. The production will run from April 12, 2013 to April 14, 2013.

Producer and Artistic Director Sherie Ragan and Assistant Director Marybeth Vaughan will recreate the imaginative Resnick and Dolly Parton comedy into an onstage musical that will keep you laughing as you step back to 1979.  Pushed to the boiling point by their superiors, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot. They conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do….even in a man’s world. The hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era, makes for the perfect girls’ night out and conversational piece.

The four times Tony nominated production originally opened April 30, 2009 on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre in New York City starring the outstanding Allison Janney, Drama Desk Award winner for Best Actress in a Musical. The musical will also feature the spectacular sounds of Dolly Parton’s original score including the title song “9 to 5” which has become a familiar tune from the popular movie twenty five years ago.

Tickets for the show are $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for students with a valid I.D. Show times are Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 14 2013 at 7:00 p.m., and a Sunday April 14 matinee at 3:00 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets starting on April 1, go to Edison.edu/charlotte/theatre or call 941-637-3513.
