Edison State College Continuing Education is offering a prep course for individuals who wish to become certified ACE (American Council on Exercise) Personal Trainers.  This course is designed to give students the knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare for the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam and become effective personal trainers.  To register, or to learn more about this course, visit http://www.edison.edu/ce/health/.

Students who complete this course will be able to assess an individual’s level of fitness using the recommended guidelines of ACE.  They will be able to design and customize exercise programs for individuals based on their current fitness level, future needs and fitness goals.  They will also be able to demonstrate proper execution of all types of exercises from free weights to strength machines as well as proper stretching and isometric exercise techniques

“The Continuing Ed department at Edison State works hard to provide courses to the community that are helpful to current or future careers,” said Adrian Kerr, Associate Dean and Director of Continuing Education for Edison State College.  “This course shows that we are always moving to improve not only our minds, but our physical well-being as well.”

This 45-hour course is completed through 30-hours of lecture, 9-hours of practical gym training, and 6-hours of study sessions for the ACE Personal Training Certification exam.  The information provided in this course will help students learn how to facilitate rapport, adherence, self-efficacy and behavior change in clients, as well as how to design programs that will help improve posture, movement, flexibility, balance, core function, cardio respiratory fitness and muscular endurance and strength.  (Adult CPR & AED required prior taking the ACE national certification exam.)

Space is limited, and advance registration and payment are required.  To sign up, call (239) 433-6963 or visit http://www.edison.edu/ce/health/.
