Edison State College to Host Designing to Thrive Event

Edison State College and its partners are hosting Designing to Thrive, a conference that is part of the Biennial Colloquium Education for a New Humanity. This annual conference focusses on urban development coexisting in a natural ecosystem. It is free and open to the public.

There are two informative and educational sessions: Sustainable Design & Construction and Sustainable Urban Agriculture. Panelists will share how balancing the needs of interested groups allows for prosperity and growth that can be a positive part of all aspects in our area – Planet, People, Profit. Join the discussion on innovative design solutions that address environmental challenges and can help us build sustainable and healthy communities.

The event will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 on the Fort Myers Campus of Edison State College in building AA, room 177.  Please use “Open Parking” lots indicated on the campus map, which can be found at http://www.edison.edu/assets/pdf/about/lee_campus_map_2014.pdf. It is recommended that attendees use the larger “Open Parking” lots around the BB Mann Performing Arts Hall and walk to Building AA as classes will be in session.

3:30 – 6:00 pm       Panel on Sustainable Design & Construction

Facilitated by Paul Shahriari, Green Mind, Inc.

Integrated Design for Mixed Use; Incorporating Green Practices in Building Codes; Sustainable Goals Become Reality; Sustainable Storm Water Design; Transportation Design.
