Apr 9, 2014

Teresa Morgenstern, Director of Communications and PIO for Edison State College, was recognized as Business Currents Contributor of the Year by The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce.  Each year the chamber recognizes members who make it a priority to help advance The Chamber towards achieving its mission: “To make Collier County the best place in America to live, work, and visit.”  This is the second time Morgenstern has received this honor, with the first being in 2011.

“I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award and dedicated to advancing the efforts of The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and Business Currents™ magazine,” says Kathy Gulvas, Vice President of Communications for The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and Editor of Business Currents. “Teresa goes above and beyond her duties as Chair to not only contribute story ideas, but often times to assume all the work that is required to bring many of those ideas to life. She will always be a reporter at heart and we’re lucky to have her expertise.”

“We are extremely proud of Teresa, and know that she is a dedicated individual who works hard in every aspect of her life,” said Dr. Lou Traina, Vice President, Institutional Advancement at Edison State College.  “She is truly an asset to Edison State College, and as evident by this recognition, to the community of Southwest Florida.”

Since 2011, Morgenstern has served as the chair of the editorial board of Business Currents magazine, the monthly publication of The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce.  Her career includes more than 20 years of public relations and marketing experience, including serving as a journalist and local reporter in Southwest Florida.  She is a founding member, and served as the 2006 president, of Public Relations Society of America/Gulf Coast Chapter.  Morgenstern also served as the public relations director for the Taste of Collier for 10 years, and was selected by Gulfshore Business magazine as a Top 40 Under 40 business professional in 2005.  She is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Collier, and will graduate from the Leadership Lee chamber program in May.  Throughout her career, Morgenstern has won multiple Image Awards from the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) for excellence in public relations, in addition to four Telly Awards for excellence in short videos and television commercials. In 2010-2011 and 2012-2013, she was honored by the Student Government Association (SGA) at Edison State College with the “Above and Beyond” award.

Celebrating over 50 years of excellence, Edison State College is Southwest Florida’s largest, most accessible and ranked nationally as one of the most affordable institutions of higher education. Serving more than 22,000 students per year regionally, nationally, and internationally, students are also active in a wide variety of clubs and programs that cater to their interests. Nationally, Edison State is ranked 45th among associate degree producers and 26th for its prestigious associate producing Nursing program.
