Aug 27, 2014

August 27, 2013 – FORT MYERS, FLA – Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) alumna Kelsey Blikstad is one of only 11 students throughout the United States to receive the Sigma Beta Delta International Fellowship award for 2014.

Every year, the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration selects 11 students from its more than 375 national and three international chapters for the fellowship. Blikstad is the second FSW student to be nominated and chosen for the fellowship in consecutive years.

“FSW’s Sigma Beta Delta chapter nominated Kelsey for her academic achievements, leadership in the classroom with maturity beyond her years, and her strong desire to succeed,” said Kelly Eakins, coordinator, Retention and Student Success, BAS, Supervision and Management, Florida SouthWestern State College. “She is a true example of what Sigma Beta Delta represents.”

Blikstad graduated Cum Laude with her BAS, Supervision and Management degree from FSW in May 2014. She is using the fellowship to attend Ave Maria School of Law in Naples.

“I am deeply honored and appreciative of being chosen for the fellowship,” Blikstad said. “Sigma Beta Delta is an honor society that I feel passionate about, and I am so grateful to my outstanding professors at FSW for nominating me. I feel privileged to have worked alongside amazing individuals during my time in the Supervision and Management program.”

“After graduating from law school, I plan to become a licensed attorney for the state of Florida and practice in Southwest Florida,” Blikstad said. “The fellowship will enable me to keep my cost of attendance low, and in return, help aid others as a future attorney through pro-bono work.”

About Sigma Beta Delta: Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society for students in business, management, and administration serves institutions which offer baccalaureate and graduate degrees in business, management, and administration where the institution holds accreditation from one of the six regional accrediting bodies but not specialized accreditation in business.
