Florida SouthWestern State College is partnering with local healthcare leaders, including the American Lung Association, Lee Memorial Health System, NCH Healthcare System, Physicians Regional Healthcare System and Bayfront Health Punta Gorda, to present the 2014 Suncoast Pulmonary Symposium.  This year’s event will take place September 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs.

“As new innovations in healthcare emerge, this annual symposium provides excellent opportunities for Respiratory Therapists, Cardiovascular Technologists, Registered Nurses, and Students to learn about the newest developments in their field,” said Dr. Jeffrey Elsberry, Associate Dean for Cardiopulmonary and Emergency Care at Florida SouthWestern State College.  “Attendees are also able to learn and interact with both nationally-renowned and regional experts, in the field of Respiratory Medicines, to share best practices, while they participate in seminars and breakout sessions.”

Industry experts, pharmaceutical companies, and equipment manufacturers will also interact with attendees in the exhibit hall with a showcase of the newest innovations in the field of respiratory medicine.  Speakers will be discussing topics such as: clinical advances for pediatric and adult aerosol therapy, the threat to health posed by e-cigarettes, exciting new research developments in the management of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, and the impact to Pulmonary patient care as the ACA is fully implemented.

In addition to the lectures and panel discussions in the plenary sessions, attendees will have unique opportunities to interact and network with their colleagues from other practice settings.  This year’s symposium provides opportunities to earn 5-17 CEUs across the three-day session.  To learn more email SuncoastSymposium@FSW.edu or call (239) 433-6937.  To register for this event visit:  www.FSW.edu/suncoastsymposium.
