Each year, the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) holds its fall convention to give the state’s 28 colleges the opportunity to gather, exchange ideas, discuss challenges and recognize the winners in the AFC’s Communication and Marketing Commission Awards of Excellence competition.

This year, Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) was named the 2014 Exemplary Practice Award winner statewide for the college’s name change/branding/marketing campaign. FSW will receive a $500 award during the 65th annual convention October 28-31 in Destin, Fla.

“This is truly an honor for all of us, and a reflection of the caliber of professionals we have here,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, President, FSW. “Our in-house marketing, public relations and communications team, Studio FSW, is to be commended for their outstanding work.”

Teresa Morgenstern, Director of Communications/PIO, FSW, will be presenting the campaign to attendees during the conference.

“It’s especially rewarding to be recognized by our fellow state colleges for this campaign,” said Morgenstern. “What has brought us the greatest level of satisfaction is how the students, the college and the communities we serve have embraced this change. Changing this institution’s name was difficult, but thanks to the exceptional professionals we have working for this college, it was accomplished with great care and thought.”
