FSW Receives Distinguished Budget Award

Dec 16, 2014

Florida SouthWestern State College received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United State and Canada (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. This award is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.

According to the GFOA, the award recognizes “the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.” Recipients of this award are determined by meeting nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The four guidelines that assess how well an entity’s budget serves are: as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

“Being recognized by your peers on a national level is rewarding,” said Dr. Gina Doeble, Vice President, Administrative Services. “The development of our annual budget is a collaborative effort among many areas of the college.”
