Welcome Kevin Coughlin District Dean of Student Services

DISTRICT –A belated welcome to Kevin Coughlin, Edison State College’s new District Dean of Student Services. In this role, Coughlin will oversee faculty development, support academic enrollment and ensure effective learning resources are in place and utilized by both students and faculty. He will help to align academic goals related to e-Learning with available resources, expertise, and faculty support. “Edison State College is focused on making certain our students and faculty have the resources they need to create a successful learning environment,” said Dr. Steve Atkins, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Edison State College. “Kevin brings a proven record of success as an academic administrator that will enhance the Edison State’s position as an academic leader in Southwest Florida.” Coughlin will help Edison State develop and assess academic assessment strategies, review and evaluate program performance, and will ensure compliance with applicable statutory and accreditation requirements. “I enjoy challenge, self direction and discovery,” Coughlin said. “Walking around each campus of Edison State I immediately felt that the faculty and students share similar values.” Coughlin has more than 14 years of experience in high education, most recently at the University of South Florida where he served as the Director of Admissions and Records. Coughlin brings a rich background focused on academia. His work has been published in several leading academic journals. He is in the process of writing his dissertation in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of South Florida. He earned a master’s at Alaska Pacific University and his bachelor’s degree at Ohio University.
