Feb 24, 2009

February 23, 2009 – Edison State College students take a top award in the Edison Festival of Light Parade.

Edison students packed the float that brought home the "Chairman's Award" for Best Nonprofit Commercial Float.

More than 40 students from campuses in Lee and Collier County spent the evening dancing, singing, smiling, and waving from atop their award-winning float as it cruised through the parade route in downtown Fort Myers.

"There was enough energy among our students to power every light bulb in that parade,” said Adam Elias Edison State Student Life Specialist. “Thomas Edison would certainly be proud."

The Student Government Association, HOPE Scholars, AASA African-American Student Association), & LASA (Latin-American Student Association) spent weeks planning for the festivities that led to the prize winning float.
