Edison State College Offers Workshop to Help High School Seniors Get Accepted to College ~Go Higher-Get Accepted! ~ Application Fees Waived Monday, February 15 Naples, FL – February 8, 2010 – The process of applying for college and financial aid is complex and often confusing, especially for first year students. To alleviate these frustrations, the Edison State College Collier Campus is pleased to host Go Higher- Get Accepted! Go Higher-Get Accepted! is a partnership between the Florida Department of Education and Florida’s 27 state and community colleges. The purpose is to help high school seniors, without postsecondary plans, apply and get accepted by their local college. This is the fourth year that Edison State College has participated in the program. Events on the Collier Campus will begin with an introduction from Dr. Christine Davis, Associate Dean of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs. Students will learn about various programs of study, admissions, residency requirements, financial aid, scholarships, and student life. “Everyone should have the opportunity for higher education” says Dr. Davis. “I hope that the information provided at this event will help students examine their career interests, decide on a program of study, and apply for admission and financial aid. “ The vast majority of careers require education and training beyond high school, and research shows that college graduates not only make more money and have more lifestyle choices than those with only a high school diploma, they also live longer and are less likely to be unemployed during their lifetime. The goal of Go Higher-Get Accepted is to have 100% of students at participating local schools accepted to college before they graduate from high school. Go Higher! Get Accepted!
