Meet Collegiate High School Principal Dr. Brian Botts

Edison Collegiate High School – Lee Campus proudly announces Dr. Brian Botts has accepted the position of school Principal.

 

Dr. Brian Botts has a rich history of enhancing public education in Southwest Florida.  His career began as a science teacher at Lehigh Senior High School.  He has worked as an Assistant Principal at LSHS and most currently serves as Principal of Fort Myers Middle Academy. 

 

“Edison Collegiate High School is a tremendous opportunity for Lee County students,” said Dr. Botts.  “I look forward to welcoming our first class of freshman this fall.”

 

“Dr. Botts has a strong background in Biology, Physics and Chemistry as well as a proven record of educational leadership in Lee County,” said Dr. Erin Harrel, Associate Dean of Education at Edison State College.  “His experience will enhance the STEM curriculum offered at ECHS.”

 

Additionally, Dr. Botts has served as an adjunct professor in the School of Education at Edison State College. 

 

“The obvious commitment Dr. Botts has made to middle, high school and college-level education has earned him the respect of fellow faculty and students,” said Dr. Noreen Thomas, Executive Vice President and Lee Campus President at Edison State College.  “I believe he will quickly build a similar rapport with the families attending our high school.” 

Edison Collegiate High School – Lee Campus plans to admit 100 ninth grade students in the Fall of 2010. Each year the school will add a new class of freshman until reaching 4 grades and 400 students.

Families are encouraged to meet Principal Botts at an open house tonight.

Edison State administrators say the mission of the collegiate high school will be to provide an honors-level curriculum is envisioned for all students, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) instruction. The four-year curriculum will provide the opportunity for students to complete a high school diploma and an associate degree simultaneously.

 

Bott’s holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from FGCU and a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from Barry University.  He and his wife live in Lee County with their four daughters.
