Alternative transportation and energy sources, nontoxic household and gardening products, fresh and natural foods, home building and remodeling techniques, and much more will be on display at:

The 2nd Annual Edison State College GreenFest Expo

Saturday, March 27

10 am – 4 pm

Collier Campus

Free and open to the public!

The GreenFest Expo Special Section appeared in the Naples Daily News on Tuesday, March 23!  This special insert offers interesting information about the Edison State College Sustainability initiative along with a map and schedule of activities & entertainment for the GreenFest Expo.

Presentations Schedule: Building J Room 126

10:30 am: Green Building and Energy Conservation (Dr. Jennifer Languell from Trifecta Construction, host of the Discovery Channel’s environmental series Discovery Project Earth)

11:15 am: Nature Photography (Josh Manring)

12:00 pm: Rainwater Harvesting: Low Impact Development and Future Water Quality (Jack Burden from Raindrop Cisterns)

12:45pm: Solid Waste and Recycling: A “How To” (David Jaye from Collier County Solid Waste Mgmt)

1:30 pm: What’s Smart about Smart Growth (Stacy Revay from the Collier County Dept. of Health)

2:15 pm: Organic Foods: The Way it Was and Will Be (Frank Oakes from Food and Thought Organic Food and Market)

Children’s Activities at GreenFest

Activities for Children, located in the “Children’s Cove” will feature naturalists from Rookery Bay Estuarine Research Reserve and The Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Most activities are available all day, unless otherwise indicated.

Children’s Activities include:

  • Face Painting
  • Coloring Station
  • Make-Your-Own Pinecone Bird Feeders
  • Make-Your-Own Animal Puppets
  • Nifty Nature Tattoos
  • Plant-a-Seed Pots
  • Find-the-Symbol Recycling
  • Learning about Live Animals (11 am – 1 pm)

The Sustainability Team on the Collier Campus is bringing back

GreenFest for the Southwest Florida community.  The theme is “Showcasing Sustainable Solutions.” The focus is on simple, efficient, and cost effective products, services, and activities which can save the consumer money while helping the planet.

GreenFest will be held on Saturday, March 27th from 10am until 4pm in and around the conference center on the Collier Campus.

Booths and vendors will include representatives from alternative transportation, alternative energy sources, efficient insulation, nontoxic household products, fresh and natural foods, home building and remodeling, and yard and garden techniques. Stop by and enjoy a taste of vegetarian food samples, win t-shirts, try out environmentally friendly soaps, and much more.
