James & Barbara Moore Observatory opens for season

PUNTA GORDA – The James & Barbara Moore Observatory located on the Charlotte Campus of Edison State College will host its first public viewing of the season Friday, Sept. 10.

 

All observatory viewings are free to the public and held at least once a month from September through May, with sessions schedule for the second Friday of each month. Viewings begin 30 to 45 minutes after dark and visitors are welcome to enjoy campus picnic areas around the observatory.

 

Dates are subject to change depending on celestial events, so interested parties are encouraged to check online at www.edison.edu/charlotte/observatory.php or call the Observatory Information Line at 941-637-3518. For special group openings please call 941-637-5657.

 

Viewing dates for the 2010-11 academic year include Friday, Sept. 10, October 8, November 12, December 10, January 14, February 11, March 11, April 8 and May 13.
