OPTIMUM MULTIPLICITY: GERRY STECCA

Art Exhibit sponsored by Edison State College at Alliance for the Arts

The Continuing Education department of Edison State College is sponsoring an art exhibit by renowned artists Gerry Stecca at Alliance for the Arts. Gerry Stecca’s exhibit will feature works that utilize the principles of pattern and repetition with wooden clothespins. Stecca’s “Organic Sculptures” were recently featured on HGTV’s Color Splash, filmed in Miami, Florida.

The public is invited to the  opening reception of Optimum Multiplicity: Gerry Stecca, on Friday, March 4th, at 5:00pm to 7:30pm, in the Member Gallery: Pam Brodersen at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, Fl 33919 (Corner of Colonial and McGregor). Enjoy a Gallery Walk and Talk with the artist, Gary Stecca, on March 5th, from 10:00am to 11:00am.

Stecca explains, “The creative process happens slightly out of order, encountering first the materials that inspire the idea and eventually developing the piece that will fill and interact with light and space.”

As the artist builds this interaction between the studio and sculptures, the artwork will blend with the unique space of the Alliance Gallery. This exceptional exhibit will present visitors a unique gallery experience.

Gerry Stecca’s art career began in the science field; however, the tug of the artistic world changed his path and he earned a B.A. in Visual Arts from the University of California. Since then, Stecca has established a permanent home in Miami. He experimented with various forms of painting before he found his area of expertise in free- form sculpture. Stecca's work has been shown in The Courtauld - London UK, University of Maine Museum of Art and Orange County Center for Contemporary Arts, to name a few. He now shows mainly in his own studio, BAKEHOUSE ART COMPLEX located in Miami, Florida.
