Jul 29, 2015

The Collier County School District selected Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) as a Commissioner’s Business Award winner. The Collier School Board members presented the award to FSW during their July 28, 2015 meeting.

FSW partnered with the school district for its iSTEM competition on May 16, 2015 for fifth grade and middle school students by hosting the event on the college’s Collier campus.

“We understand the importance of engaging students in STEM fields. It was incredibly rewarding for us to host a day of interactive activities for our Collier elementary and middle school students,” said Dr. Robert R. Jones, Collier Campus President, FSW.

In a letter from Pam Stewart, the Commissioner of Education, FSW has been recognized for “outstanding commitment to improving education by partnering with schools is their communities…..Your community service is essential in helping us improve the quality of education, making Florida a state of educational distinction, and ensuring that education works in the sunshine state.”
