Florida SouthWestern State College Hosts Annual “Family Math Night”

Feb 17, 2017

FEBRUARY 17, 2017 – FORT MYERS, FLA. – Learn how fun math can be at “Family Math Night” on Monday, March 13 from 5:45-7:30 p.m., in Building U, Room 102, at the Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) Thomas Edison Campus, 8099 College Parkway.

This free, family-oriented event for students in kindergarten to grade 8 features fun math games created by teacher candidates in FSW’s School of Education, demonstrating how mathematics doesn’t only need to be something you use at school.

“Learning mathematics successfully requires a joint effort between home and school,” said Dr. Mary Robertson, Professor of Mathematics Education at FSW. “We are happy to help build a bridge connecting the two as well as showing young students and their families that math can be fun!”

Dr. Robertson, an expert in the field, has been a mathematics teacher for the past 32 years, having taught at the middle school, high school and college level.

While the event is open to anyone interested in exploring mathematics, students are encouraged to register by sending an e-mail to familymathnight@fsw.edu. For questions about Family Math Night at Florida SouthWestern State College, please contact Dr. Robertson at mary.robertson@fsw.edu.
