FSW Earns National Ranking

Apr 21, 2017

April 21, 2017 – Fort Myers, FLA – College Choice has announced its list of the 50 best community colleges in the country. Florida SouthWestern State College has been ranked 31st.

“It’s always rewarding when the hard work of our faculty, staff and administrators is recognized. It truly is a comprehensive team effort to help ensure that our students receive an exceptional education experience with us, and that prepares them to be the professionals our region needs,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, president, FSW.

College Choice correlated data from Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program, Payscale, and individual community colleges to compile this list. Several factors were considered:  first year retention rates, three-year graduation rates, credentials awarded, percentage of non-traditional and minority students, percentage of Pell grants, and minority graduation rates. College Choice also included in-district tuition rates and potential salary to determine a sense of the return on investment.

Florida SouthWestern State College is Southwest Florida’s largest and one of the most affordable institutions of higher education. Annually serving nearly 22,000 students globally, FSW offers a variety of nationally-ranked, career-focused academic programs with two- and four-year degrees, and professional certifications. Students are also active in clubs and programs catered to their interests. FSW debuted its intercollegiate athletics program in the fall 2015. Visit www.FSW.edu for more information.
