FEBRUARY 20, 2025 - FORT MYERS, FLA – Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Institute of Innovative and Emerging Technologies (IIET) and the Alliance for the Arts present “The Role of the Artist in the Age of AI,” a panel discussion exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence and the arts, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7 at the Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers. Artists have long served as visionaries, provocateurs, truth-tellers, and innovators during times of transformation. Join local artists and FSW faculty members for a discussion on the role of the artist in the age of AI. Looking beyond the question of whether an artist should embrace or resist AI in their own work, this panel seeks to explore how artists navigate moments of upheaval—challenging assumptions, shaping cultural narratives, and reimagining creativity in the face of generative AI. Featured speakers are artists William Askew, Zan Lombardo and Damon Hall and FSW faculty members Nathan Harper and Berry van Boekel. This event is free to Alliance for the Arts members and FSW staff and students with FSW Buc ID card. Non-members pay $5 at the door.
