New Student Orientation

Congratulations on your admission to FSW! We look forward to welcoming you to the Buccaneer family! Online Orientation in conjunction with our signature Welcome Week events are designed to connect you with the campus, culture, people, and places that you will call home for the next 2-4 years as you continue your education.

The Online Orientation Canvas course will provide the necessary information for students to be successful at FSW and begin their college journey. In addition, students will have the opportunity to join FSW for an on-campus experience at our signature Welcome Week events.

All First-Time in College students are required to complete Online Orientation. First-Time in College includes incoming freshmen and any graduating high school senior with previous dual enrollment credit from FSW.

ORIENTATION INFORMATION

Online Orientation is completed through Canvas, the system FSW uses for online course content. Students receive access to Online Orientation upon admission to FSW and will receive instructions to the email provided on their admissions application and Bucs email address once the course opens.

To access Online Orientation, visit the FSW home page, www.fsw.edu, and click the Canvas icon in the toolbar. Log into Canvas using your FSW Student Portal username and password.

Students must complete all 3 modules, quizzes, and the Enrollment Satisfaction Survey. Don’t worry – Online Orientation will only take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Upon completion of Online Orientation, a student’s Orientation hold will be released.

First-Time in College students will also have the opportunity to attend FSW Welcome Week Events. These on-campus events will provide students with the opportunity to learn about FSW programs and connect with campus resources.

PLAN AHEAD

  • Complete Online Orientation early in order to proceed through the enrollment steps.
  • Online Orientation is required for all first-time in college students, including those who are out-of-area/state.
  • PLANNING TO START IN A DIFFERENT TERM?

If you applied within the last year and want to start classes in a different term than the one for which you applied (e.g. you submitted an application to begin in fall but now plan to begin in spring or summer), all you need to do is log back into your Applicant Portal and select the application you wish to update and click "Request Deferral to a Different Term" and select the term in which you would like to start.

If your application was submitted more than 1 year ago, you will have to submit a new application, but we'll waive your application fee! Just select the "AA/AS, Readmit" application when you apply.
