FSW President Dr. Jeff Allbritten joined Athletic Director Dr. Kevin Lynum this week at a Chamber of Southwest Florida panel discussion focused on the economic impact of sports in Southwest Florida.

Sports have become an important part of the region’s economy, attracting visitors and supporting local businesses. During the discussion, Lynum offered a higher education perspective on the role athletics plays in the community and highlighted the impact of FSW Athletics both on campus and throughout Southwest Florida.

“I am especially proud of what FSW Athletics has accomplished,” Allbritten said. “Our Bucs compete at a level of excellence that rivals programs across the country, and that success brings tremendous pride to our College and our community.”

FSW competes in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball and women’s volleyball. The women’s volleyball team won three consecutive NJCAA Division I national championships from 2022 through 2024. FSW softball captured three consecutive national championships from 2021 through 2023, followed by a national runner-up finish in 2025 and a third-place finish in 2026.

FSW is also home to Suncoast Credit Union Arena, a modern multipurpose facility that provides a first-class home for the College’s basketball and volleyball programs.

“It is remarkable to see this kind of facility and this level of athletic excellence at a two-year college,” Allbritten said.

The Chamber’s panel brought together regional leaders to discuss the continued growth of sports and its broader economic impact on Southwest Florida. FSW Athletics continues to play an important role in that story, bringing championship-level competition and community engagement to the region.
