Governor DeSantis Appoints Cicarello, Reappoints Martin and Nix as FSW Trustees Aug 12, 2019 AUGUST 12, 2019 – FORT MYERS, FLA – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment David Ciccarello and the reappointment of Jonathan Martin and Danny Nix to serve on Florida SouthWestern State College’s (FSW) Board of Trustees. All appointments are four-year terms. “We welcome Mr. Ciccarello to the FSW family,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, FSW president. “His local knowledge and community connections will be an immediate asset to Florida SouthWestern State College. We have already heard many great responses to his appointment from the community. We are also thankful for the reappointments of trustees Danny Nix and Jonathan Martin and their continued leadership of the FSW Board of Trustees.” Ciccarello is a civil attorney and shareholder at Wilbur Smith Attorneys at Law in Fort Myers. He has served as a member and chairman of the grievances committee for the Florida Bar, 20th Judicial Circuit and volunteers his professional services to those in need, earning him the Florida Rural Legal Services Pro Bono Recognition Award. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. Martin is a trial attorney at Parvey & Frankel Attorneys, P.A. After gaining extensive trial experience as an assistant state attorney, he began representing the injured. He handles wrongful death, nursing home abuse, auto accidents, premises and product liability cases. He is an active member of the Southwest Florida community where he has served on and advised many boards. While a student at Fort Myers High School, Martin dual-enrolled at then Edison Community College. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and his Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law in Virginia. Nix is a real estate broker/owner and commercial realtor. He strives to recruit and integrate companies and the people of those businesses into the area by finding them the best location at the highest use and value. He also works to build leaders in the employees of his companies, training them to excel in residential and commercial real estate, property management, and building personal wealth. Nix’s 19-year background in evaluating and managing underperforming commercial operations, prior to real estate, provides a platform of experience and leadership to be a valuable team member of Leadership Florida. Nix has a Bachelor of Science in marketing management from Western Governors University, and he volunteers with the Rotary, Crossroads Hope Academy and Deep Creek Community Church. #### Florida SouthWestern State College is Southwest Florida’s largest and most affordable institution of higher education. FSW Announces 2015-2016 Softball Early Signees January 15, 2015 – FORT MYERS, FLA. -- Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) Head Softball Coach Robert Iamurri has announced the signing of 13 student-athletes during the NJCAA’s January early signing period. “Bringing athletics back to FSW is part of President Allbritten’s vision to take this college to the next level. Hiring Carl McAloose as the Athletic Director is part of that commitment,” said Iamurri. “Then securing City of Palms Park as our home stadium demonstrates their dedication to offering a first-class experience for our student-athletes, the college and the community as a whole.” These first 13 Buccaneers players are a talented combination of competitors who hail from local, state, national and international cities. Meet the Buccaneers (in alphabetical order): Lexi Bettermann: “Lexi has a cannon arm that will gun down runners from the outfield,” said Iamurri. The lefty slapper is coming to FSW from Circle Pines, Minnesota where she was an All-Conference player at Centennial High School under Coach Janelle DeMartino. Lexi also plays centerfield for the Minnesota Sting coached by Jake Privette. She will study Sports Management. Criza Bulandi: “Criza is a swift runner and talented hitter capable of playing multiple positions,” said Iamurri. She is coming to FSW from Winter Haven, Florida. She earned All-County honors while on the 6A State Runner-Up team at Lake Region High School under Coach John Briggs. Criza played travel ball with the Florida Gold, coached by Brian Webb, and was part of the 2012 NSA State Championship. She will study Criminology. Tori Foster: “Tori is a catcher/centerfielder utility player that will add quickness to the FSW softball program,” said Iamurri. She is a first team All Area and All State player for Coach John Carlisle at Baker High School. She is also the lead-off batter for the West Florida Crush coached by Lynn Holcomb. Tori will enter the FSW's CSI program. Marta Fuentes: “Marta will bring D–1 speed to FSW. She is an Orlando All-Area middle infielder and left-handed slapper for coach Keith Pereira’s Freedom High School,” said Iamurri. Marta also plays travel ball on Coach Pereira’s Osceola Overdrive. She will study Finance. Courtney Gettins: “Courtney will be a solid pitcher with a variety of movement. She brings experience on the mound and instant credibility to the FSW softball program,” said Iamurri. She comes to FSW from Hastings, New Zealand. Her New Zealand U-19 team placed 4th at the World Cup. Her Iona College High School team has won four consecutive Quadrangular Championships while playing for Courtney’s dad, Kevin Gettins. She has been a U-15 MVP, U-17 MVP, U-17 top pitcher twice and New Zealand’s 2014 top Pitcher of the Year awarded by Softball New Zealand. She will start at FSW with general studies. Graysen Gladden: “Graysen is an outfielder and lefty hitter/slapper that will bring speed and knowledge into the line-up for FSW,” said Iamurri. She is coming to FSW from Santa Rosa Beach, FL where she played three years for Mosely High School under Bryan Wilke and earned All-County Honors each year. Graysen will play her senior season with Niceville High School and the Niceville High Intensity both coached by Danny Hensley. Graysen will major in Sports Marketing. Bridget Keasey: “Bridget will come to FSW from Panama City where she is a middle infielder at Rutherford High school under coach David Barron. She is a three-sport athlete having played volleyball and earning All-County honors in both golf and softball,” said Iamurri. Bridget has played travel ball with the Florida Chaos who won USFA Florida Championship and came in fourth at Nationals. She is currently playing with West Florida Crush coached by Lynn and Jason Holcomb. Bridget will study Sports Management. Samantha Luckett: “Samantha will bring a winning attitude to FSW coming from Scott County High school in Georgetown, KY. The team won the 2014 Kentucky State Championship under coach Jeff Portwood. She brings a lot of versatility, being able to play both the outfield and middle infield,” said Iamurri. That same year, she made the 2014 All Region Team and was a 2014 East/West All Star. She will study Nursing. Kayla Rangiawha: “Kayla is a power hitting first baseman/catcher coming to FSW from Wellington, New Zealand where her Wellington East team won the New Zealand National championship in 2010, and runner-up in 2011 under coach Ashley Pointon,” said Iamurri. She is also a member of the New Zealand U-19 team that placed 4th at the World Cup. She will start at FSW with general studies. Savannah Retallick: “Savannah is versatile utility player with infield, outfield and pitching experience,” said Iamurri. She comes to FSW from Gulf Coast High School in Naples where she was an All-County player for Coach Amy Lovett. Savannah also plays outfield for Coach Mark Dover's Sarasota Heat. Savannah is studying to be a paramedic. Molly Roark: “Molly is a power hitting catcher with a dominate arm. She is coming to FSW from Paxon School of Advance Studies in Jacksonville Florida. Molly was co-offensive player of the year her sophomore and offensive player of the year and an All-County player her Junior year for coach Brown,” said Iamurri. In the fall she played volleyball at Paxon. She also catches and plays third for coach Deric Ender’s Florida Storm. Molly will study to be a veterinarian. Jenna Sacchetti: “Jenna is an athletic pitcher with excellent placement of her pitches,” said Iamurri. She comes to FSW from Brewster, New York where she was a three-time district champion at Brewster High School under Coach Lisa Delzio. She also pitches for the Connecticut Eliminators coached by David DeRita. Jenna will be studying Nursing. Mikayla Werahiko: “Mikayla is a swift athletic middle infielder with experience at the highest level of softball,” said Iamurri. She comes to FSW from Christchurch, New Zealand where she played at Aranui High School for her sister Carley Werahiko. Mikayla was the Aranui High School MVP and Canterbury club team's Player of the Year. She has played with the 4th place U-19 New Zealand team and joined the New Zealand National team at the World Cup in the Netherlands last summer. Mikayla will study Management. The FSW Buccaneers will kick off their inaugural season in the fall at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers.
