I travel in the summers and plan to be all online during the summer, can I still apply for Buccaneer Bound?

This program is designed as a campus-based program with a preset schedule. Students must be able to commit to in-person classes, Monday – Thursday, during the Summer Mini-B term.

Why is a math course part of the Summer Bridge Program when the schedule is so fast-paced?

We include MGF 1130: Mathematical Thinking in the Summer Bridge Program because it's a great opportunity to complete a core math requirement early — and do so with personalized support. While the class moves quickly, you'll be in a small group of students, with access to one-on-one help, tutoring, and built-in workshops that make learning more manageable.

Taking math during the summer also gives you a head start on your academic plan. You'll enter the Fall semester with more confidence, more flexibility in your schedule, and one of your general education requirements already completed.

By taking math during the Summer Bridge program, you're tackling a challenging subject in a low-cost, high-support environment — setting yourself up for future success.

I am a student on another FSW location, can I still apply to Buccaneer Bound?

Yes. This program is open to qualifying students from all FSW locations. The program is offered on the Lee Campus, Collier Campus, and Charlotte Campus, and transportation is up to the student.

Will I receive a $1,000 scholarship every semester as part of the Buccaneer Bound program?

No. To help you jumpstart your journey, you may receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship for your courses during the summer bridge program to assist with tuition and books on top of any financial aid you are eligible for.

  • Summer scholarship availability is limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

When do students eat during the Summer Bridge Program?

The program runs from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Students are expected to eat lunch after the program concludes at 1:30 PM. If needed, students are welcome to bring drinks and small snacks to consume during the wraparound workshop sessions or breaks throughout the day. We recommend bringing a water bottle and a light snack to stay energized and focused.

Is attendance required every day?

Yes, daily attendance is important to stay on track in this fast-paced program. With only six weeks to complete two college courses, missing even one day can impact your success. We understand emergencies happen and will work with you if needed, but we strongly recommend planning summer schedules around full participation.

Can I work a job while doing Buccaneer Bound?

The program meets Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM, so it's possible to work a part-time job in the afternoons or evenings. However, keep in mind that you'll also need time for homework and study. This is a college-level workload, so we recommend limiting outside obligations when possible during the six weeks.

What happens after Summer Bridge ends?

You'll transition directly into your first full semester at FSW with:

  • Two completed courses on your transcript
  • A stronger GPA foundation
  • Established connections with advisors, faculty, and peers
  • Experience navigating campus resources and college life

Many students say Summer Bridge gave them the confidence and preparation they needed to succeed in their first year!
