FSW Professional Development and Scholarship Excellence Award

FSW recognizes the value of continuing education and scholarship endeavors for faculty to maintain high academic standards. The institution therefore supports faculty involvement in activities to remain current and relevant in their discipline; and participation in other initiatives to advance the mission and vision of the College (as bargained by the Collective Negotiations Agreement (CNA) and defined in the Faculty Development Plan).

This award recognizes faculty who have exceeded the standards for the category of Professional Development and Scholarship of the Faculty Development Plan and who make a strong case in their annual self‐reflective narrative and/or faculty portfolio to support their superior rating.

Eligibility

This award is for individuals who:

  • Have full‐time faculty status.
  • Have submitted the appropriate form and/or portfolio for review according to the due date in the Collective Negotiations Agreement (CNA) to provide evidence of their annual professional development and scholarship activities.

Award

  • Each recipient receives a $1000.00 award.
  • Each recipient receives a plaque and a certificate denoting excellence in professional development and scholarship.
  • Each recipient will be honored during a special occasion to honor faculty.
  • Each recipient’s name will be engraved on a plaque with prior recipients of this award placed in the Teaching and Learning Center.

Additional Perks/Potential Benefits

  • Each recipient’s name shall be forwarded to the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) for national recognition.
  • Each recipient will be eligible to attend the NISOD’s International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence or another academic conference of their choice.

Nomination Process

The criteria for this award is announced by the Provost’s office at the beginning of the academic year. The online nominations form can be found on the TLC website. Any administrator, Department Chair/Coordinator, colleague and/or student who is able to speak to the faculty member’s professional development and scholarship pursuits may submit a nomination.

No self‐nominations are accepted.

The selection committee may request that the nominee provide documentation to support their nomination.
