Professional Development Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the Professional Development Committee is to promote quality professional development and engagement for full-time and adjunct faculty at Florida SouthWestern State College.

The Professional Development Committee Chair is elected by the FSW Faculty Senate from the ranks of the committee. The chair will serve for three years and may be elected for additional terms. The chair is expected to remain on the committee for a minimum of one year after the end of the term (COP 03-0403).

Faculty may serve a minimum of three (3) years on a standing committee and may be reappointed to serve additional three (3) year terms. Faculty wishing to serve on the committee will do so with the approval of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. The Committee will have no more than three non-faculty members selected by the Provost to serve a three-year term renewable at the discretion of the Provost (COP 03-0403).

The function of the Professional Development Committee is to advise the Director, Teaching and Learning Center on faculty professional development needs and to collaborate with the Teaching and Learning Center staff to promote and provide quality professional development opportunities for full-time and adjunct faculty. The committee responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting travel to quality professional development opportunities.
  2. Enhancing quality professional development activities at FSW.
  3. Rewarding participation in professional development opportunities.
