Accounting Technology (AS)

The Associate in Science Degree (AS) in Accounting Technology prepares students for careers such as accounts receivable coordinators, accounts payable coordinators, bookkeepers, credit and collections coordinators, payroll coordinators, accountants, auditors, tax preparers, and other accounting paraprofessionals in advanced professional accounting occupations.

The AS in Accounting Technology program includes courses in financial and managerial accounting, finance, management and insurance.  Students in this program have the opportunity to participate in the VITA program, which provides free tax-preparation services to low-income, disabled or limited English-speaking clients.

The program is designed for both full-time and part-time students. Courses are offered in an online and traditional formats to accommodate students’ varying schedules and learning preferences.

Earn Academic Credit for Career Certificate Program

Career Certificate programs (previously known as a Postsecondary Adult Vocational Certificate) consist of a series of vocational and/or college credit courses that prepare students for entry level employment in specific career fields. Upon completion of the certificate program, students continuing their education in a related A.S. degree program may be awarded credit in selected A.S. degree courses. Contact your advisor for more information. 

Continuing Toward a Baccalaureate Degree

Graduates of the AS, Accounting Technology Degree can matriculate into the BAS, Supervision & Management Degree at Florida SouthWestern State College.
